Abstract
This study aimed to investigate to what extent the item responses of Emotional Intelligence Scale form a unidimensional construct and local independence according to the Rasch model. It also aims at investigating the presence of DIF in terms of gender in the Emotional intelligence scale. The researcher adopted a descriptive survey method and collected data from a stratified random sample of Sohar University employees. The sample consisted of (396) employees. The researcher developed a scale of two dimensions, personal efficiency and social competence. The win steps program was used for statistical analysis of the data. The results indicated that both Rasch assumptions (unidimensional and local independence) are held in the present research. The results displayed DIF in terms of gender in some items in the Emotional Intelligence Scale. Several recommendations were presented on the basis of the finding.
