This paper introduces a new two parameters discrete distribution by mixing the negative binomial with the discrete Erlang-truncated exponential distribution; the proposed distribution is called the negative binomial-discrete Erlang-truncated exponential (NBDETE) distribution. The quantile function, moments, moment generating function, Renyi entropy, order statistics, stress-strength reliability, and simulating the random sample are some of the statistical features of the NBDETE that are investigated. The method of maximum likelihood procedure is adopted for estimating the model parameters. A Monte Carlo simulation is performed to assess the performance of the accuracy of point estimates for NBDETE. Finally, an application of the new distribution is illustrated in a real data set. The proposed NBDETE distribution is the right-skewed over-dispersed, and it can accommodate a constant hazard rate function.
