The effect of high temperature plays an important role in the attack of building construction, which occurs when the building
is exposed to continues high temperature (fire). The chemical processes stimulated by the high temperature in the particular phases of
cement paste have significant influence on the thermo-mechanical deformations. Fire resistance study is important to determine the
influence of elevated temperature on blended cement pastes. Such a study helps to understand the effect of high temperature the phase
composition and thermo-mechanical properties of cement pastes . thermal treatments has been performed at 100, 200, 400 and 600
◦C for the system namely ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and OPC mixed with (0.35 % fly ash), (0.35 % slag) and (0.35 % flay ash
+ 0.35 slag) separately by weight at water to cement ratio (w/c) of 0.25, 0.30, 0.35 and 0.4 for 28 day of hydration. The variation
in the thermo- mechanical behaviour of the blended cement paste were studied by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and
compressive strength measurements. |
