Abstract |

EPID has different dosimetric qualities than the gold standard in radiation dosimetry, the ionization chamber. Models must be constructed to convert the raw EPID into a dose. The ability of electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) to assess patient dose is essential. This study aims to investigate and quantify the relationship between EPID response and dose delivery parameters such as dose, dose rate, Field size, and image quality. Materials and methods: To verify linear response with dose, Dose rate, and Field size, images of a 10×10 cm² open field were acquired. The EPID was placed at a fixed detector distance of 100.0 cm and 150 cm, and a variable dosage was administered using monitor unit settings of 1mu and 12mu. Results: Imaging device performance has been evaluated using image quality and dosimetry. Dose calculations demonstrated dose and Dose rate linearity. The response of the EPIDs as a function of irradiation dose is remarkably linear. Despite the fact that the EPIDs field size dependency differed from that of an ion chamber in solid water phantom, it was shown to be suitable for relative dosimetry. Conclusion: The image quality of the flat-panel imager is much higher. If the scatter is ignored, the flat-panel imager can generate portal dose images without using scatter correction. |
