ICT has the capacity to alter the way society functions and is governed. The word e-governance would establish a link between the two. E-governance is described as the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to deliver government services to citizens. India is a populous country where e-governance is fast becoming a buzzword. ICT tools are making public services safer, easier to access and more efficient than ever before. Information Technology has made impressive inroads into Indian society and the government alike. It is also recognized that the process of induction of Information Technology is not a straightforward task. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the impact of ICT on rural development and in governance. Also, to understand the meaning and importance of ICT. Finally, it discusses the role of ICT in rural development, as well as the potential and difficulties that it presents. |
