In this paper, we propose a new continuous one parameter distribution called Gharaibeh distribution. Several mathematical and statistical properties of the proposed distribution, such as the shapes of the distribution, moments, skewness, kurtosis, hazard rate function, mean residual life function, stochastic ordering, mean deviations, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, order statistics, and Renyi entropy are investigated. The method of maximum likelihood estimation is suggested to estimate the parameter of the distribution. Applications to three real lifetime data sets indicated that the proposed distribution provides better fit and outperforms other existing distributions.
