Abstract |
|
In the present paper, an improved chain ratio-product type estimator has been developed for estimating the population mean of the study variable using two auxiliary variables under double sampling scheme. Properties of the estimators have been addressed under two situations: i. when second phase sample is a sub-sample of the first-phase sample, and ii. when second phase sample is drawn independently of the first phase sample. The expressions for the biases and mean squared errors (MSE′s) have been obtained up to the first order of approximation. Theoretical and empirical study has been conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed estimator compared to other estimators in terms of efficiency.
